sukabumiNews.net, SUMEDANG – Suwandi, a young man from Buton, Southeast Sulawesi, achieved the distinction of being the top graduate of the 32nd Class of the Indonesian National Institute of Public Administration (IPDN) in 2025.
Suwandi is not from a
wealthy background. His parents are meatball vendors who sell their food out of
their house. The 22-year-old is determined to succeed and make his parents
happy.
"Thank God, I
didn't expect to be the top graduate. I come from a remote area, not a city.
But I managed to survive and achieve the highest score in the 32nd Class of the
Indonesian National Institute of Public Administration," Suwandi told the
media on Monday (7/28/2025).
As an only child, his
parents fully support Suwandi's pursuit of higher education. Suwandi told of
his struggle to enter IPDN, which was not easy.
Suwandi began his
journey to enter the National Civil Service University (IPDN) in 2021, when
Indonesia was hit by the Covid-19 pandemic and a difficult situation. He had to
travel by ship for 6-8 hours to the provincial capital, Kendari.
"I entered in
2021. I'm from Buton Regency, which is far from the provincial capital, Kendari
City. But that didn't dampen my enthusiasm for becoming a civil servant,"
said Suwandi.
He passed the Basic
Competency Selection (SKD) test, placing him among the top three in Southeast
Sulawesi, and was declared a successful candidate. Suwandi has now officially
become a State Civil Apparatus (ASN) after being inaugurated as a Junior Civil
Servant.
Suwandi hopes to hold
a strategic position in government. The 22-year-old also hopes to carry out his
duties faithfully as a civil servant.
"Hopefully, we
will be able to carry out our duties smoothly. Hopefully, we can also hold
strategic positions in government," he hoped.
Meanwhile, Suwandi's
mother, Wamersi, was proud of her only son for being the best graduate.
Meanwhile, his father, Samin, advised Suwandi to remain humble.
"My advice to
Suwandi is to be humble and not arrogant. My parents' expectations are that he
will be devoted to his parents, not arrogant, and humble," said Samin. (KBRN)
