– President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, concluded his
overseas visit to Belgium and France with several important achievements that
strengthen Indonesia's strategic position on the global stage.
In his statement at
Orly Airport, Paris, France, Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya stated that
the visits to the two countries were very productive and yielded several
important achievements.
"Over the past
two days, the President has had very productive activities. He met with three
European Union and Belgian figures in Belgium. He met with the President of the
European Commission, the President of the European Council, and the King of
Belgium," Cabinet Secretary Teddy stated to the media on Tuesday, July 15,
2025.
An important
achievement, a breakthrough, was the Comprehensive Economic Partnership
Agreement (CEPA) between Indonesia and the European Union. According to Cabinet
Secretary Teddy, with the CEPA agreement, Indonesia's export tariffs to the
European Union are now zero percent.
"Previously,
there were 10 percent, 20 percent, now they are zero. And that's an excellent
agreement for investment, industry, and the economy," he said.
With a population of
700 million, Cabinet Secretary Teddy believes the CEPA can broaden Indonesia's
access to Europe. "You can imagine, this is very good; Europe's population
is around 700 million. This means it opens up relations between Indonesia and
Europe in all fields," he added.
Meanwhile, in France,
Indonesia made history as the guest of honor at the Bastille Day Military
Parade. The special invitation from French President Emmanuel Macron to the
country's leaders, which doesn't happen every year, demonstrates France's high
level of trust in Indonesia.
"You can see
that in the last 10 years, two major heads of state have been invited. In 2017,
it was President Trump, and then in 2023, Prime Minister Modi of India. This is
certainly a great honor," he explained.
The participation of
the Indonesian Patriot Task Force II contingent in the military parade was also
greeted with high honors by President Macron and the invited guests. Millions
of people witnessed the gallant display of Indonesian troops in Paris, who put
on a proud performance.
"This certainly
means that Indonesia is increasingly being recognized and is gaining
significant influence on the global stage," Cabinet Secretary Teddy
concluded. (**)
