sukabumiNews.net, GARUT – Three tourists from outside the area were swept away by the waves at Guha Beach in Caringin, Garut, while swimming. One was rescued, while the search for two others is ongoing.
The maritime accident
occurred on Sunday (July 20, 2025). The Head of the Water Police, First
Inspector Aep Saprudin, said the incident began around 9:00 a.m. Western
Indonesian Time (WIB).
The three victims and
several friends had descended from Puncak Guha Hill to the shore to swim.
Shortly after, about 10 minutes into the water, a large wave swept the three
people out to sea.
"The survivor,
Ahmad, a resident of Cirebon, was rescued and immediately evacuated to the
Caringin Community Health Center for treatment," he said.
Meanwhile, two other
victims, namely Oka from Brebes and Ripan from Sumedang, have not been found
yet and are still in the search process by the joint SAR team.
"Eyewitness
Nursafira (22), who was at the scene when the incident occurred, confirmed that
a wave suddenly came and swept the three victims out to sea," he said.
The police, through
the Garut Police Water Police Unit, have taken several steps, including
visiting the scene, conducting rescue efforts, and evacuating survivors.
The search is still
ongoing, involving the police, Basarnas, and the local community. The victims'
families have been contacted and asked to immediately go to the location.
