– Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi reiterated his country's unwavering
solidarity with Venezuela, emphasizing Tehran's support for Caracas in the face
of political pressure and escalating military threats from the US.
Araqchi made the
remarks in a phone conversation with Venezuelan Foreign Minister Yvan Gil
Pinto, as reported by Tasnim, as quoted by SukabumiNews, Thursday (August 28).
They discussed bilateral relations and recent developments in the Caribbean.
Gil Pinto briefed the
Iranian minister on the regional situation following the escalating threats and
illegitimate claims by the United States.
He also expressed
gratitude for Iran's support and emphasized Venezuela's strong determination to
defend its independence and sovereignty against US ambitions and pressure.
Meanwhile, Araqchi
condemned Washington's "baseless accusations" and threats to use
force against Venezuela.
He warned that
America's aggressive unilateralism poses a growing danger to global peace and
stability and reaffirmed Iran's firm support for the Venezuelan people and
government.
This conversation
took place amid recent US military escalation. Washington has deployed three
destroyers to waters off the Venezuelan coast under the pretext of
counter-narcotics operations. This move, accompanied by increased sanctions and
larger bounties on Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, has significantly
increased regional tensions.
